Hello Dr.Dhada my name is Rogelio Alvarado, Thank you for your visit as a special guest speaker to our History 232 course last friday. Your lecture was very intresting because you presented it in a fun and understanding manner. The three excercises regarding Jourdan Anderson really helped me value the meaning of slavery and freedom. I also learned new things that I had never known about slavery Thanks to the letter of Jourdan Anderson and your analysis in detail about the letter. Thank you once again for your time and consideration Dr.Dhada.

ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Dhada, thank you for the very enlightening opportunity to hear your view and interpretation of Jourdon Anderson's letter. It was great to hear and break down the many events that Jourdon had been through and despite the wrong that had been done to him by others, we were able to see how he interpreted them to a desire for a better future for himself and his family. Once again, it was great to hear your take on his letter, I really do hope that you come back to reveal to us what you had denied us on Friday :)

Thank You Dr. Dhada for your time to talk to us about the John Anderson Letter. It was very interesting and the way to did it made me pay more attetion compared to just talking to us.
ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Dhada, my name is Norica Ruelas; I want to thank you for your visit on Friday as a guest speaker to our course history 232. The seminar presented was great, and the interpretation of Jourdon Anderson's letter was magnificent. It was astonishing to see how much meat a one page letter contained. I enjoyed the three different exercises conducted in class. Overall this seminar opened our eyes to see the future in a different perspective. Once again, thank you for setting time to come speak to our history 232 course, it was very beneficial.

Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, let me thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule, and coming to our class. I enjoyed the lecture from start to finish. The letter had so much meaning and history behind it, it was incredible. Not only did the letter give insight to Anderson's life as a slave, but what life was like in the late 1800's. Your lecture/presentation made me realize that there is so much in life that we as (Americans) dont value. Thank you once again Dr. Dhada.
Hello Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Claudio Felix and I wanted to thank you for the visit you gave us last friday. I really appreciate the fact that you took time off your schedule to go talk to us. I also want to mention that your presentation was really good. I had never thought of a letter in such detail as you made us think about it. Plus the exercises we did were really helpful to get a picture of how people like Jourdon lived. Your visit made me realize how lucky we are to have the things we have and to not take anything for granted. Once again, Thank you.
Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tyree A. Boyd-Pates and I can't say with words how much your seminar was valued and appreciated. Being of African-american descent, I have always been taught to appreciate my heritage and the aknowlegde the shoulders I stand on. However, with this lecture I was able to learn a new whole dynamic that I never could of imagined. I learned the extent of integrity, perserverance, and forgiveness of oneself through Mr. Anderson letter. These are the lessons that can only be taught through the peaks and valleys of life and the many details in between. Once again, I want to say thank you for everything and providing us with that little slice of life that no one should ever go without.
Hello Dr. Dhada!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very interesting lecture about the Jourdon Anderson letter. Your exercises really made you think about how it was to be a slave in America during the 1860's. We're so lucky that the time has changed in the world and we really should appriciate what we have. So thank you for reminding me about that!

Hello Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Alex Johnson. I'm the young fellow who asked you the question about what YOU thought about the letter. I really enjoyed your enlightening and intellectually challenging visit to discuss Jourdan Anderson. I was really pleased with how you went about discussing the letter and I really enjoyed it.
Dr. Dhada
ReplyDeleteHello my name is Shawnie Speer. You asked me the question what I got out of the letter. I replied that he seemed more educated than a slave to write the letter because it was well written. I enjoyed your lecture about the many different ways one can look at a letter and it prompted me to write one myself and look back at it to see if there are any characters I can find. I hope to hear one of your lectures again.
Hello Dr. Dhada,

Hello Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Irissol Flores. I would like to start off by thanking you for visiting my history 232 class on Friday. The lecture you gave us was of great advantage and interest. You provided a whole different perspective of Anderson's letter. The meditation was a bonus, i really went back in time. Thank you once again. Hopefully you may be able to visit us once again.
Dear Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteYour lecture on Friday gave me a deeper insight into the meaning of the letter. There is more to the letter than what I initially thought. I read it and didnt think of things like historical context or imagination. I thought of how he would feel writing the letter but not the circumstances of his life and where he was when he wrote it.
Thank you for your time.
Ryan Smith
Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteHello, my name is Bianca Garcia. First, I would like to thank you for visting our history class on Friday, January 8. The lecture presented to our class was extremely meaningful. It taught me of the past experiences that former slaves went through in the 1860's. The exercises we did also gave me a better understanding of Jourdan Anderson's letter. Thank you!
Professor Dhada,
ReplyDeleteHello Professor. I would like to thank you for guest lecturing in our History 232 class. It was a unique experience that brought the whole class into the historical context of the letter.

Hello proffesor Schmol. My name is Leo Contreras. I enjoyed Dr. Dahaha's visit because the execises we did seem to useful to me. Like how we got so much information out of only one page document. In college we are required to analyze in depth like that often. Oh yeah he was funny too. When he said "I would have prefer Jeezy".
ReplyDeleteDr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for visiting our class and discussing the letter from Jourdan Anderson. I found the discussion very interesting and enlightening. I enjoyed looking at something from a Historians point of view, that was something new to me.
This is from Gerardo:
ReplyDeleteDr.Dhada's speech about the letter from Jourdan Anderson was phenominal because he was able to open our eyes and see the true meaning of the letter and not what we had thought the letter was about.Through his interesting, funny but yet challenging teaching he managed to get all of our attention and enrich us with his knowledge about the letter. His way of teaching, and his vocabulary was challenging but yet very interesting. I'm glad I was there to witness what I have to say one of the best seminars. Dr. Dhada did not only teach us the true meaning behind the letter but was also able to explain clearly and in detail the life of Jourdan Anderson.
Dr. Dhada,
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank you for your visitation to our History 232 class Friday morning. At first Jourdan Anderson's letter seemed like nothing more than simple correspondence. After listening to you describe it as a historian, my mind has been opened to the depth of what went into this particular letter-making process. I am interested as to what happened to Jourdan and his former master as well as the August 22, 1865 reprint date seen on the hard copy in class. Once again, I would like to thank you for your time.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing fine. After Friday's exercise I did a lot of thinking and realized so many things. I must say the way you took us back to the 1800's was an experience I had never had before. The tone you used and the way you went about it with so much detail was such a great way to catch my attention and to truly make me feel like I was the one writing the letter. I do hope you come in for a second visit to our History 232 class. Thank you for presence.

Thanks for making us imagine the setting that took place in the letter. I never knew i could imagine so good i really felt i was watching a movie in my mind.
